Stoops' Scoop - March 2010

Here we are, beginning our seventh year of operation at Morning by Morning! We've had six-plus years in creating Morning Inspirations for friends to read. After a year of web site development in 2003, we posted our very first Inspiration online on January 5, 2004. We went public with the site on Leap Day, February 29, 2004.

It's good to begin your day with God.

Morning by Morning offers you daily Inspiration in 5 minutes or less, based on scripture readings with a weekly theme from the Revised Common Lectionary. Monday starts the theme with a gospel selection. Tuesday comes to you with an Old Testament reading. Wednesday and Thursday are grounded in a psalm. Friday and Saturday offer you teaching from a New Testament epistle. Sunday culminates the theme in the gospel once more. Let these words of divine expression begin your day. Consider what these great men had to say about it:

  • The first and almost the only book deserving of universal attention is the Bible. I speak as a man of the world.
    - Thomas Jefferson
  • So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it, the more confident my hope that they will prove useful citizens, and respectful members of society.
    - John Quincy Adams
  • The Bible is the rock on which our Republic rests.
    - Andrew Jackson
  • To the influence of the Bible we are indebted for the progress made in civilization, and to this we must look as our guide in the future.
    - Ulysses S. Grant
  • A man has deprived himself of the best there is in the world who has deprived himself of the Bible.
    - Woodrow Wilson
  • I know the Bible is inspired because it finds me at a greater depth of my being than any other book.
    - Samuel Taylor Coleridge
  • Men do not reject the Bible because it contradicts itself but because it contradicts them.
    - The Defender
  • The book to read is not the one which thinks for you, but the one which makes you think. No book in the world equals the Bible for that.
    - James McCosh
  • No sciences are better attested than the religion of the Bible.
    - Sir Isaac Newton
  • The flame of Christian ethics is still our highest guide.
    - Sir Winston Churchill
  • Isn't is amazing that almost everyone has an opinion to offer about the Bible, and yet so few have studied it?
    - R.C. Sproul

We, David & Teresa, enjoy life in the great state of Texas, Teresa's birth state. Our Welsh Corgi, Rusty, completes the household. However, almost 4 year-old grandson, Jackson, is 30 minutes down the road, with his little brother Ian, at 1 and a half years old. They are a delight, for sure! In Texas, we own and operate a bed and breakfast in Hillsboro. Take a look at the website here, http://www.1895TarltonHouse.com/, then plan a trip to come see us.

So, Internet friends, this is the goal of Morning by Morning:
Enhance your day with personalized spiritual Inspiration, and then pass it on to those around you. Thank you for the opportunity to share daily Inspirations with each of you who visit the site. Our gratitude to those of you who've sent messages of encouragement. May God enrich and bless your day with his love, morning by morning.

Isaiah 50:4 - The Lord God has given Me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
